Winston-Salem Chapter Members involved in Shooting

Police responded to a call at the Bojangles on Peters Creek Parkway.   Sgt. Mickey Hutchens and Officer Danny Clark pursued the man as he fled behind the Bojangles restaurant toward Salem Creek.   Sgt. Hutchens and Officer Clark caught up with the suspect in Salem Creek and a struggle ensued.  During that struggle both officers and the suspect were shot.  Sgt. Hutchens, a 27-year veteran of the Police Department, passed away Monday evening Oct 12, 2009. Officer Clark, a six-year veteran, is currently recovering from his injuries. The suspect was fatally wounded.   Both Sgt. Hutchens and Officer Clark are Winston-Salem Chapter PBA members.

The Police Benevolent Foundation has established a fund at Wachovia Bank in each officers' names.  Donations can be made at any Wachovia branch or online at The Police Benevolent Foundation website.
