On March 4,
2010, members of the Roanoke Valley chapter gathered in Roanoke
Rapids to start the process of putting an active chapter in place.
Emerson Carroll who works for the Halifax County Sheriff's Office was
nominated as the Steering Committee chairperson. John Merritt (Halifax
County Sheriffis Office), Corey Griffin (Halifax County Sheriff’s
Office) and Bruce Norton (Roanoke Rapids Police Department) are also
part of the committee. Executive Director John Midgette was in
attendance to explain the process of chapter formation and to answer
questions. The Roanoke Valley Chapter covers Bertie, Halifax,
Hertford, and Northhampton Counties. The next meeting will be at the
Hilton Garden Hotel, Roanoke Rapids (Country Cross Roads) at 7:00 p.m.
