Roanoke Valley Chapter Moves Towards Chapter Formation |

On July 20, 2010 the Roanoke Valley Chapter met at Hilton Gardens Hotel in Roanoke Rapids to elect their Executive Board and appoint committee chairpersons for their first year term. Emerson Carroll (Halifax County Sheriff's Office) was elected as President of the Chapter. Corey Griffin (Halifax County Sheriff's Office) was elected as the Senior Vice President. Tommy Hathaway (Roanoke Rapids Police Department) was elected as the chapter secretary. The following were appointed to serve as committee chairpersons: Membership - Chris Scott (Halifax County Sheriff's Office), John Merritt - Legislative (Halifax County Sheriff's Office), and Bruce Horton - Grievance (Roanoke Rapids Police Department). The Roanoke Valley Chapter will conduct candidate interviews on August 26, 2010 from 8:30 to 5:00 p.m. Candidates seeking the PBA endorsement for the general election will be asked a series of questions about their position on issues that are vital to law enforcement and PBA members. Candidates seeking election to the NC House and Senate, Halifax District Attorney, Halifax Clerk of Court, and Halifax County Commissioners have been invited to participate. The Roanoke Valley Chapter members are very excited about the upcoming candidate interviews and the opportunity to be involved in issues that affect our members. The next meeting will be held on August 31, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hilton Gardens in Roanoke Rapids.
