25 Year Retirement for Law Enforcement Officers

House Bill 1114 - Law Officer’s 25-Year Retirement

A bill to allow local and state law enforcement officers to retire with full benefits after completing 25 years of service. This act also amends the separation allowance by changing age 62 to the actual age officers become eligible for social security benefits and by providing that the burden of management of the separation allowance be moved to the State Treasurer’s Office rather than the individual local employing agencies.

An act to standardize the investigation and discipline of law enforcement officers and provide professionally recognized minimal due process and just cause standards

Senate Bill 1396 – Deputy Sheriff Employment Protection
Primary Sponsor(s): Don East and Doug Berger

An act requiring “just cause” standards for termination of deputy sheriffs and affording administrative and judicial appeal and review of disciplinary actions.

Senate Bill 784 – Durham/LEO’s Purchase of Retirement Service

A bill which provides for the purchase of service credit of 2 to 4 years for Durham City and County officers who obtain an intermediate or advanced law enforcement certification.
