First Round of NC House and Senate Screenings Complete

On June 20th, 21st, 27th, and 28th, political screenings were held for NC House and Senate races. These candidate interviews were the start of the most ambitious screening process in the history of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association. Over the four days of screenings there were 45 candidates from House and Senate Districts across the state who chose to participate. The candidates were asked and graded on a series of questions related to 25 year retirement, professional standards for Sheriff, due process for law enforcement officers, institutional problems with the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission, and worker’s compensation and retirement loophole closure legislation. The candidate’s answers and input from the membership will be utilized to make endorsements of selected candidates for the November general election. Members from the Triangle Chapter, Cary Chapter, Southeastern Chapter, Winston-Salem Chapter and the Mid-East Chapter participated.
