|
|
The Mountain chapter of the North Carolina Police Benevolent Association recently hosted candidate interviews for those seeking election/re-election to the Hendersonville City Council. On September 28, 2009, candidates met with a screening committee to discuss issues of vital importance to the PBA and the law enforcement profession. These issues include 25 year retirement for law enforcement officers, due process for municipal law enforcement officers, and the expansion of disability retirement benefits for officers who become seriously injured in their first year of duty and have to medically retire. Future opportunities for the PBA to meet with elected officials on matters of public concern were also part of the discussion.
Based on the screening committee’s recommendations the Mountain chapter Board of Directors voted to endorse the following candidates in the October 6th election. The endorsements are as follows:
Mayor – Mary Jo Padgett (Click name to visit her website)
Council Seat – Jeff Collis
Council Seat – Jerry Smith
