Governor Perdue Signs Far Reaching Executive Order

PBA Stands as the Sole Law Enforcement Association
represented under the Order

On January 21, 2010, Governor Beverly Perdue signed a far reaching executive order that will allow employee associations access to state facilities and cabinet agency leaders. The PBA is proud to be the sole law enforcement officer association represented under the order. The order requires that state institutions, departments, bureaus, agencies, or commissions shall permit reasonable access to their facilities for the purposes of membership recruitment and distribution of educational materials related to membership. The order also allows the representative of each covered employee association the opportunity to meet annually with representatives of the Governor and quarterly with the State Personnel Director. Additionally, the representatives of a covered employee association whose membership includes at least 20 percent of the employees in an executive branch shall have the opportunity to meet at least quarterly with representatives of that agency to confer regarding areas of mutual concern.
