The Eastern Coastal Chapter held a candidate screening for County Commissioner and Sheriff

On April 3, 2010 the Eastern Coastal Chapter held a candidate screening for County Commissioner and Sheriff primary elections. We had a great support of screeners from Washington PD, Farmville PD, and East Carolina University PD. Special thanks to Danny Searle-Spratt the Wilmington steering committee chair and to Brent Massey the President of the ALE/SBI Chapter for assisting our chapter as screeners. Randy Byrd, the Division President, was also in attendance.

Eastern Coastal Chapter proudly endorses Commissioner Kenneth Ross for County Commissioner for his primary election to be held on May 4th. Commissioner Ross is a retired North Carolina Highway Patrolman of 30 years. He is dedicated to improving the life of our members effected in Pitt County and is truly concerned with the safety of Pitt County citizens.

Eastern Coastal Chapter also proudly endorses Neil Elks for Sheriff of Pitt County. Mr. Elks is dedicated to serve his community with Integrity at the Office of the Sheriff. Mr. Elks has great concern for our member’s issues in Pitt County and vows to support the NCPBA’s concerns wholeheartedly. Eastern Coastal Chapter President Justin Guthrie has this to say about Neil “The Eastern Coastal Chapter is proud to endorse Neil Elks for Sheriff. Neil Elks has the strong commitment to provide the best working conditions for his officers and will strive to make improvements where he can.  He holds the same values and
beliefs that the SSPBA look for in a candidate and we look forward to working with him in the future.”

The Eastern Coastal Chapter is proud of these endorsements and plans to work hard with Commissioner Ross and Neil Elks to continue to improve member’s quality of life at their respective agencies.
