Nomination Guidelines:

  • Nominations are accepted all year with a deadline being December 31rd.
  • Nominations must be for actions or behavior by nominees in the year that the award is to be given. Information from previous years may be used to show a pattern of consistency  or exemplary behavior over a number of years, but must related to the nominated action in the actual year of the award.
  • Nominations may be given to a committee or executive board member.
  • You do not have to be a PBA member to nominate someone.
  • You must be a PBA member to receive the award.
  • After the nomination period closes, the Officer of the Year committee will narrow the list to five nominations.
  • These five nominations will be presented to the Cary Chapter board to select the Officer of Year award.
  • Everyone that is nominated will receive a certificate. The five finalists for Officer of the Year will receive a plaque designating that they were a finalist. The Officer of the Year will receive a plaque designating that they are the Officer of the Year.

  • Community or School Projects
  • Neighborhood Watches/Crime Prevention Initiatives
  • Community Improvement or Outreach Meetings
  • Special Teams
  • Cultural Diversity Initiatives
  • Other community related activities
   Mentoring
  • Provide assistance to fellow law enforcement officers
  • Develop programs or policies favorable to law enforcement
  • Serve on committees to review issues and propose recommendations
  • Other skills or activities that have assisted law enforcement personnel
   Excellence in Performance
  • Investigative Work/Substantial Case Clearances
  • Heads Up Police Street/Beat Work
  • Notable Arrests
  • Supervision or Leadership
  • Special Assignments
  • Decoy/Sting Operations
  • Any other performance that is considered to be excellent
   Valor-Acts of Heroism or Bravery
  • Assumed risk or took action to protect the life of another officer or citizen
  • Responded to an incident or performed duties in the face of great danger
  • Performing above and beyond the call of duty
