The North Carolina Police Benevolent Association proudly offered their endorsement of Wake County Clerk of Superior Court Candidate Lorrin Freeman during the 2006 election season.

On August 3, 2006, Lorrin Freeman met with screening committee members of both the Raleigh-Wake and Cary Chapters of the NCPBA. She was asked a series of questions relating to recommendations for magistrate appointments, accountability for records control, and search warrant storage system controls. She also was asked about procedural due process for employees of the Clerk’s office. Based on her answers, the screening committee recommended the endorsement of Lorrin Freeman in this race. The Raleigh-Wake and Cary Chapter boards then voted to endorse her candicacy.

According to Cary Chapter President Randy Byrd, “We are proud to endorse Lorrin Freeman as the next Clerk of Court for Wake County. Her career of serving the public and her innovative approach to tough issues make her the logical choice to bring a positive change to the Clerk’s office. A vote for Lorrin is a vote for the men and women of law enforcement.”

Lorrin Freeman upon receiving the endorsement had the following comments, “I am excited and proud to be endorsed by the Police Benevolent Association, the leading voice for law enforcement. As a former prosecutor and as an Assistant Attorney General, I have worked with law enforcement on a daily basis. The PBA and I share the common values of improving work conditions for law enforcement and strengthening the criminal justice system. As Clerk of Court, I am committed to making the court system efficient so our officers can spend more time in the community keeping us safe.”

After offering the endorsement Cary Chapter members began working diligently to assist Lorrin with her campaign. On September 24th, she was invited and attended the Cary Chapter picnic at Bond Park. At this event, she was able to meet many members. On October 10th, members attended a meet and greet event that was held for Lorrin in Cary at the home of Rep. Jennifer Weiss. Rep. Weiss was also endorsed by the North Carolina PBA. On October 25th, members attended a fundraising event in Raleigh at the home of Billy Brewer.
