Cary Members Present Strong Showing for Municipal Elections

Cary Chapter members, who recently formed their own chapter,  were very active in their local council elections earlier this year. On August 29, 2005, 19 Cary members participated in the screening process at the Courtyard by Marriott in Cary.  Candidates were screened in three races including District A, District C, and an At-Large Race.  Tom McCuiston was endorsed in District A, John Harvilla was endorsed in District C and Julie Aberg Robison was endorsed as the At-Large candidate. Cary members continued to be involved after the endorsements and attended functions for all three candidates and presented PAC checks. On September 27, 2005, 9 Cary members attended a fundraiser for John Harvilla at Tony's Oyster Bar in Cary. On September 29, 2005, 4 members attended a fundraiser for Julie Aberg Robison at Mamma Mia's in Cary. In the end, 24 Cary members participated in the political and election process. Julie Aberg Robison won her race and this now gives Cary members four PBA endorsed candidates on the council. Robison had the following to say about her endorsement: "The PBA endorsement is a true honor and demonstrates my commitment to the strong and efficient enforcement of our laws and to our law enforcement officers. In Cary, our officers are dedicated professionals who lay their lives on the line every day to make Cary one of the 10 safest large cities in the country and the safest in the South. I am proud to support our officers and thank the PBA for their confidence in me. I look forward to working with these dedicated men and women and to helping them to do their best and to be their best as they protect the safety of Cary citizens"  Cary members are looking forward to working with Robinson to develop a working relationship on the issues that were addressed in the screening process.     (11/21)
