Cary Chapter Show Unprecedented Involvement in Political Process

The Cary Chapter has shown unprecedented involvement in the political process during the 2006 election season.   The process started in May of this year when Congressional candidates were interviewed.   This was followed by interviews involving candidates for the North Carolina House and Senate in June.   In July, candidate interviews were held for candidates for the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court.   In August, members conducted joint candidate interviews with the Raleigh-Wake Chapter for candidates seeking election to the NC House and Senate, Wake County Clerk of Superior Court, Wake County District Attorney, County Commissioners, and District and Superior Court Judges.  In September, members were involved in conducting interviews for candidates seeking appointment to a vacated position on the Town Council.   This was followed by a final round of interviews with candidates for the NC House and Senate.   During this process, twenty eight members participated in the candidate interviews and assisted in making recommendations for endorsements.   Nineteen of these members had never participated in this process prior to this election season.    10/2)
