Cary Board Shows Appreciation for Adopted Budget

On June 22, 2006, members of the Cary Town Council voted to approve the $217 million FY 2007 budget by a 6-1 vote. Included in this budget was the addition of 10 police officer positions. According to budget documents, these personnel will be assigned to front line, street level delivery of essential police services focused on the protection of life and property. They will provide needed coverage to the streets of Cary for call response, handling of citizen complaints and quality of life issues, enhancing traffic enforcement, preventative patrols, and necessary staffing to cover all currently existing and expected demands and assignments. These additional officers will also serve to increase police presence in the community by establishing smaller patrol beats for officers to cover. On June 23, 2006, the Cary Chapter board sent letters of appreciation to the members of the council who voted for the budget. The letter thanked them on behalf of the membership for the budget passage. The letter also highlighted that the budget demonstrated their commitment to public safety, the police department, and the values of the Cary Chapter of the PBA.     (7/5/06)
