Cary Chapter Experiences Incredible Growth

The Cary Chapter has experienced incredible growth during the past year or so. In February of 2005, Cary had 79 members as part of the Raleigh-Wake Chapter. Since that time until April of 2006, the membership has grown to 120 members. This amounts to a 52% increase in a little more than a year. In September of 2005, the official balloting started for board seats for the Cary Chapter. During the election and setting of the executive board the membership continued to grow. This was due in part to a membership drive, during the last quarter of 2005 that produced 16 new members. A large part of the membership growth has been due to members being involved and seeing first hand the accomplishments that are being made. Including the Chapter formation meeting in June of 2005, forty nine members have chosen to participate in Chapter functions. These functions have included monthly meetings, candidate political screenings and gatherings, along with events to show membership appreciation. These members have in turn spread the word to others and have been able to articulate additional reasons for being a member, beyond the benefits package that the PBA offers.
