On February 26, 2011, Susan Moran, the Public Information Director for
the Town of Cary, made comments to WRAL-TV about a complaint that had
been filed against officers of the Cary Police Department. Susan Moran
made the following comments in the story. "We take it extremely
seriously. And if we find that we have staff members that
haven't upheld our expectations, they are gone," Moran said.
The PBA wrote a letter on March 2, 2011, to Mayor Weinbrecht and members
of the Council. This letter addressed the statement by Moran and her
prior efforts to place censor and control on the release of information
for public release by the PBA. On March 3, 2011, Mayor Weinbrecht
replied back to the PBA in an email. On March 4, 2011, the Town
Manager replied with a letter to the PBA. On March 11, 2011, the
PBA responded to the letter that the Town Manager wrote to the PBA.
