Cary Chapter Shows Incredible Growth and Membership
Involvement in First Year

Stage is Set for Continued Success

The Cary Chapter has experienced incredible growth and membership involvement during their first year as an official chapter.  In June of 2005, Cary members had their first informational meeting to start the process of their own chapter. In September of 2005, the official balloting started for board seats for the Cary Chapter. During the election and seating of the executive board the membership continued to grow.  The first Cary board was put in place in November of 2005.  At that time the membership had grown to 106 members. This was due to the excitement of members in having their own chapter and a membership drive that was under way. The membership drive added 16 new members in the last quarter of 2005.   Since November 9th of 2005 when the first Cary Chapter board was initially set, until the time a new board was seated on December 14, 2006, the membership has grown to 130 members. This amounts to a 23% increase in a little more than a year.   A large part of the membership growth has been due to members being involved and seeing first hand the accomplishments that are being made. Sixty-six members participated in various functions of the chapter in the first year.  These functions included monthly meetings, training sessions, candidate political screenings and events, a Cary Chapter picnic and PAL game, along with events to show appreciation for a retiring member and an endorsed Cary Town Council member who resigned.  The involved members have in turn spread the word to those that aren’t members, and have been able to articulate additional reasons for becoming a member and becoming involved.  They have also been able to show the additional advantages of a having a chapter and more fully explain the benefits package that the PBA offers.
