Cary Chapter Races For a Cure!
2009 Cary Chapter Team
The Cary chapter recently formed a chapter team to run and walk in the 13th Annual Komen NC Triangle “Race for the Cure” on June 13, 2009. This was the 3rd straight year that the Cary chapter has sponsored a team. According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed cancer among women. The “Race for the Cure” event was held on the campus of Meredith College in Raleigh. Over 23,000 participated in the event and around 1.75 million dollars was raised for breast cancer research. These monies will be distributed among local organizations that support breast-cancer education, patient services and research for a cure. The Cary chapter brought together chapter members, friends and family members who raised over $3,000 for the cause. Team members also wore a t-shirt specifically designed for the event.
