Cary Chapter Member Recognized by the Wake County Exchange Club
Tiffany Silsbee sets the bar with DWI enforcement

 


Officer Tiffany Silsbee was recognized by the Wake County Exchange Club for her exemplary efforts in DWI enforcement. The awards ceremony was held April 30, 2007 and was part of the Exchange Club of America’s ’s 60th annual crime prevention campaign. Silsbee was part of a group of officers from area agencies that were recognized for their outstanding achievements in serving their communities.

Silsbee was nominated by fellow officer and Cary Chapter member Shawn Anderson. In Anderson’s nomination he highlighted Silsbee’s performance and drive towards excellence as an officer especially in the area of DWI enforcement. According to Anderson, “Tiffany’s greatest accomplishment to date has specifically been in the area of DWI enforcement, where she has shown a commendable and passionate dedication in ensuring that impaired drivers are removed from the streets of Cary.” Over the course of 2006, Officer Silsbee led the department with 44 DWI arrests. Anderson also noted Silsbee’s continuing efforts with self-improvement in this area: “Officer Silsbee consistently seeks out training opportunities that permit her to remain at the forefront of issues that impact DWI enforcement in this state. This includes her recent attendance at the Regional DWI training for N.C. Law Enforcement and Prosecutors on March 9th, 2007.” Anderson summed up the nomination of Silsbee with the following assessment of her commitment to the profession: “I have had the distinct privilege of serving along side Officer Silsbee over the past year and I can say without hesitation that her dedication, professionalism and enthusiasm for law enforcement exemplify the outstanding service element the Wake County Exchange Club seeks to recognize during its annual crime prevention campaign.”

Silsbee was born in Raleigh and grew up in Cary. As a graduate of Athens High School, she excelled in athletics. She was an accomplished varsity track athlete during her four years of high school. After graduating, Silsbee was recruited by Appalachian State University to run cross country. She graduated summa cum laude from Appalachian State University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in criminal justice with a dual minor in sociology and psychology. During her junior year, Silsbee was granted a scholarship to attend the elite North Carolina Police Corps program. She graduated in December 2004 and was recognized among her fellow cadets for being the most physically fit. In January of 2005, Silsbee began her career with the Cary Police Department. She currently is assigned to the IMPACT team.
