Benevolence Fund Tops $1000 |
|
| As of February 2, 2006, $1041 has been contributed to the Benevolence Fund. 89 members have contributed thus far. Members can make a voluntary contribution of $2 monthly or a lump sum payment of $24 for the year. The $24 option was created so members wouldn't have to remember the $2 contribution on a monthly basis. 29 members have chosen the option to make a yearly contribution of $24. If a member wants to participate, he or she is encouraged to see committee Co-Chairs Mike Williams or Lynne Brawn. A member can also contribute through other committee representatives. Those members are John Moore, Steve Wilkins, Alex Gazaway, Jon MacBride, Lillian Royal, Travis Knick, and Ken Quinlan. It is also important for members to let any committee or board member know when there is a need with a Chapter member. $100 has been disbursed from the fund since its inception. The fund was created to assist members who find themselves in emergency financial situations or to provide flowers for a funeral, for example. The goal of the committee was to have funds in place to assist with those immediate situations. The Cary Chapter Board, consisting of 10 members, makes the final vote on disbursement of funds. There must be a majority vote to disburse money from the fund. | |
